1st Quarter Symposium
In March 2023, we had our first quarter-regional symposium at the British High Commission in Accra. The symposium was on physical exercises for amputees. This symposium welcomed over 70 amputees within the Greater Accra region. It included practical exercises amputees can engage in to maintain good muscle strength for ambulation with prosthetic devices.

Economic Empowerment for Amputees and Caregivers
The maiden amputee skill training program came off in December 2022. The program provided 14 amputees and caregivers with hands-on skills in soap and detergent preparation, beads making, and snail and mushroom farming. The goal of the program is to equip amputees who do not have skills that can attract monetary value to support self-dependence and good quality of life. By training the amputees in these skills, Smiles of Hope seeks to put the amputees and caregivers on the trajectory of becoming self-dependent and improving their quality of life.
